The latest development in the IT industry has many people concerned over a possible job loss. Amidst such concerns, a US-based consulting company Neudesic has come out with an aggressive hiring plan for its new office at Kochi Infopark.
The California-based company, which is operating in India for the last 10 years, intends to recruit around 100 technically strong consultants by this year-end for its new Centre of Excellence in Kochi, which would be increased to 400 in the next three years.
Neudesic is a leading provider of IT solutions in big data, advanced analytics, IoT and cloud. The new centre expects to tap the budding technologists and entrepreneurs in the region and build service offerings as well as products in the digital transformation space for global customers, says Ashish Agarwal, CEO, Neudesic Technologies India.
Agarwal, who was here for the opening of the new centre, told BusinessLine that Neudesic expects an exponential growth over the next three years in the global IT sector and the company is gearing up to support the growth. Besides Kochi, the company has centres in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
To a question on the recent uncertainties being experienced in the Indian IT industry, he said many of the industries worldwide are evolving for new techniques and innovations and the IT industry is no exception. “The need of the hour is re-skill the people in the sector for employability especially with a consultant and entrepreneurial mindset, as today clients are looking for right solutions in this competitive environment,” he said.
However, the IT industry here was reluctant to accept those changes and instead focused on mass recruitment without making any efforts for re-skilling of the jobs. Instead of selling world class consultant value addition, the IT sector had sold cheap labour in the global market, he added.
Allaying fears of an uncertain future, Agarwal claimed “we will be a formidable force in the global IT sector with the potential for critical thinking, ability to adapt and learn more. This will definitely bring in more opportunities as India has apt people in the right age group”.
With ample funding, the global business right now has sufficient jobs. “What they need is innovative ideas, which we can extend through re-skill of brains,” he said.
