Pepper prices ruled flat on Tuesday on limited activities. Arrivals declined. However, the demand continued to remain steady, trade sources told BusinessLine . They said domestic buying has pushed up prices of 500 GL pepper in Karnataka. Now, they are quoting ₹575 a kg delivered anywhere in India on cash-and-carry basis. Meanwhile, they said, Karnataka exporters were reportedly buying semi-processed 560 GL pepper from Kerala at ₹575. On the terminal market, 47 tonnes arrived and of this 16 tonnes were from Karnataka and the balance was from the High Ranges. Spot prices remained unchanged at ₹56,500 (ungarbled) and ₹59,500 (garbled) a quintal. On the IPSTA, all the active contracts also stayed steady today. Export prices were, however, down a tad at $9,750 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,000 for the US.
