Pepper prices moved up on tight supply amid good demand. Arrivals from Wayanad have started. Supply has picked up in Sakleshpur, Karnataka where from offers are being made at ₹660 a kg delivered anywhere in India by rail. Demand continues to outstrip the supply and that in turn has pushed the spot and futures prices up, traders said. On the terminal market, 42 tonnes of pepper were traded at ₹630-650. On the spot, prices moved up by ₹300 a quintal to ₹62,800 (ungarbled) and ₹65,800 (garbled). On the IPSTA, all the active contracts went up by ₹1,000. Export prices were at $10,900 a tonne c&f February shipments, which March and April shipments were at $10,000 and $9,500 respectively.
