Shares of hospitality firms, such as EIH, Indian Hotels, Hotel Leelaventure, Taj GVK Hotels, Speciality Restaurants, Advani Hotels, Kamat Hotels and others may feel pressure on the service charge proposal. The Union Government on Monday said paying service charge on food bills is not compulsory and customers can choose to have it waived if not satisfied with the experience. Restaurants generally charge service charge in the range of 5-20 per cent.
