City-based air cooler maker Symphony Ltd posted a net profit of Rs 36.5 crore for the third quarter ended March 2015 with an increase of 35 per cent from Rs 27 crore reported in the corresponding quarter last year.

The company's net sales increased by 22 per cent to Rs 137.5 crore for the quarter against Rs 113 crore in the same period last year. The company follows the financial year from July to June.

Symphony shares gained by close to 5 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after the announcement of financial results. The shares hit a 52-week high of Rs 3270 during the day before closing at Rs 3151. The counter had touched a 52-week low at Rs 762 exactly a year ago on April 21, 2014. Symphony crossed a market capitalisation of Rs 10,800 crore on Tuesday.

For the nine-month period, the company's net profit stood at Rs 94 crore, up 42 per cent against Rs 66 crore for the same period last year. Net sales for the nine-month period stood at Rs 392 crore against Rs 300 crore, showing a growth of 30 per cent year-on-year.

The company's EBITDA margins were 35 per cent for the quarter, as against 31 per cent in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Export revenues stood at Rs 44 crore of total net sales for the nine-month period, showing a growth of about 19 per cent.
