The Chettinad group has announced plans to launch a school, Chettinad Sarvalokaa Education, offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme.
It will come up on a 10-acre campus inside the Chettinad Health City at Kelambakkam, to the south of Chennai.
Geetha Muthiah, Director of Chettinad Educational Institutions, told mediapersons that the school would offer children a ‘transdisciplinary and project-based experiential learning.’ It will cater to a mix of Indian and international students. From August, the school will initially offer Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged between 3 and 11 years till grade five. An IB school does not offer a fixed curriculum but a framework with an emphasis on enquiry skills. The school comes under the IBO Asia Pacific Region.
It will start Middle Years Programme (MYP) by 2018 for grades 6 to 10. Chettinad Sarvalokaa will induct a Diploma Programme (DP) for grades 11 and 12 soon. The annual fee ranges from ₹2.6 lakh to ₹ 4.5 lakh. The school offers both day school and weekly boarding school with modern facilities. The Chettinad group at present has 12 educational institutions from which more than 12,000 students graduate every year.
