Great Lakes Institute of Management has signed an MoU with the School of Business and Management, the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST), whose Executive MBA programme was ranked number two globally by FT in 2015.

The MoU was signed by Bala V Balachandran, Founder Dean, GLIM, and Jitendra Singh, Dean of the HK B-school, in the presence of faculty and members of the institute.

The purpose of the MoU is to make possible and to institute academic exchange between Great Lakes and the HKUST Business School. Through this cooperative programme, both the institutes will now be able to exchange faculty, graduate management students and research scholars.

The MoU also facilitates joint research activities that could eventually lead to a PhD programme besides organising international conferences jointly, according to a press release.

Another area of mutual interest envisaged would be internship and placement opportunities for Great Lakes students in Hong Kong and vice versa.

Signing the MoU, Balachandran said, “I am happy that we have collaborated with HKUST where the culture paves a way for an open environment and an atmosphere conducive to the exchange of knowledge and innovative ideas among students, research scholars and faculty.”

Founded in 1991, HKUST is an international research university with strong ties to global thought leaders, whilst having wide-ranging connections with Mainland China. It promotes interdisciplinary studies, dedicated to educating well-rounded students to acquire a strong entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking.

Within two decades, HKUST has been ranked Asia’s number one in the QS university rankings in 2013.
