IIT-Kanpur will host a two-day conclave from January 27 for start-up enthusiasts, where champions of venture capital (VC) firms and successful entrepreneurs will not just share their experiences but also throw some light on funding and other challenges that could be faced by new entrants, a release said here on Thursday.

The event is organised by Startup Master Class (SMC), an initiative launched by the IIT-K Alumni Association four years ago.

The meet is aimed at building collaboration, inclusiveness and interaction among the community.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who recently announced a corpus of ₹1,000 crore for start-ups in the State, will be the guest of honour at SMC. Other guests include industry veterans and angel investors like Nasscom Chairman BVR Mohan Reddy, Indian Angel Network co-founder and Director Saurabh Srivastava, Indian American Forum’s National President Ravi Sakhuja, and Chintan Vaishnav, Academic Director at MIT Tata Center in the US.

Apart from sessions by VCs and entrepreneurs, there will by workshops on diverse topics such as blockchain, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, mobility, drones and bulletproofing start-up business. Also lined up are 250 one-to-one interactions with mentors for budding entrepreneurs, said the statement.

SMC is coming to Kanpur for the first time. Earlier, it was organised is metros such as Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune, and engaged over 5,000 start-up enthusiasts, more than 500 start-ups, 200 delegates and over 100 VC firms.
