Jain University held its sixth annual convocation for the class of 2016, where the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Government of India (Higher Education), Mahendra Nath Pandey, presented the convocation address to the class of 2016.

The convocation ceremony saw the participation of about 500 students from different disciplines. About 2,422 students graduated this year, including 69 gold medal recipients and 47 doctoral degree holders. Around 1,922 students were conferred degrees in absentia.

The ceremony began with the welcome address by the Vice-Chancellor, N Sundarajan, followed by the opening of the convocation ceremony by the Chancellor, C G Krishnadas Nair, followed by presentation of degrees and awards to students.

While delivering the convocation address, Pandey urged the students to take the responsibility to share and spread the learnings that they are taking away with them from the university.

He asked the students to contribute to the society through their individual abilities and initiatives and bring changes that can transform lives. Evoking the teachings of Mahavir Jain, he advised the students on the importance of culture-rich society, and how science, tech and culture can go hand-in-hand to bring positive changes.

He said that India has great talent and resources that can contribute massively to different sectors and propel the economic growth of the country. He mentioned that India's education sector has also made a steady progress to keep pace with the growing demand and meet the students expectations.

He concluded by asking the students to highlight the value, ethics and positive stories of India when they go on to represent the country.
