Coimbatore-based PSG College of Technology (PSG Tech) and IBM today announced the establishment of an on-campus Centre of Excellence to impart practical training on IBM Power Systems and IBM AIX Operating System to students.
In a release, IBM and PSG Tech said that the AIX training would help the students sharpen their skills on virtualisation, security and cloud and assist them to move from theory based training to gain practical knowledge and become ‘industry ready’ while starting their careers.
R. Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG Tech, said that with the country’s transition to a knowledge-based economy, students should acquire new IT skills to become employable.
Working with IBM would help PSG Tech to keep pace with technological developments and differentiate itself from other institutions in terms of academic programmes.
Venu Juvvala, Branch Manager-Chennai, IBM India/South Asia, said his company was “committed to eliminating barriers’ to students getting top class jobs’’.
Students completing the training would be awarded certificates and the top 10 per cent of the students would be given prometric certification.
