With rising instances of cyber crimes in the country, the government on Wednesday approved the setting up of an expert group consisting of academicians and professionals to prepare a roadmap to tackle them.
Expert panelThe expert group will give suitable recommendations on all facets of cyber crime, the Home Ministry said in a statement.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh approved the ‘Expert Study Group’ comprising senior officials from Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC); Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru; Cert-In; Computer Science, IIT – Kanpur; IIIT, Bengaluru and Ministry of Home Affairs. The group will prepare a roadmap for effectively tackling cyber crime and give suitable recommendations on all its facets, recommend possible partnerships with the public and private sector, NGOs, international bodies and international NGOs too, the statement said.
Ongoing programmesThe Data Security Council of India, part of Nasscom, has already been conducting such programmes with agencies, such as the Central Bureau of Investigation, on training officials in cyber security.
Recently, various issues relating to cyber crimes have been flagged at a few fora including Parliament, Singh said.
