BJP president Amit Shah, who arrived in Kochi last night, is expected to draw up a blueprint for the party’s electoral strategies for the upcoming Assembly elections in Kerala and Tamil Nadu where the party has not been able to make much headway.

Three Central ministers — J.P. Nadda, Piyush Goel and Prakash Javadekar — are joining Shah in the top-level discussions. Top state leaders in Tamil Nadu and Kerala are also attending the deliberations.

Shah had, soon after taking over as the party president in 2014, instructed the Kerala leaders to take all steps to make sure that the BJP opened its account in the Kerala Assembly. The Sangh Parivar outfits have all been working overtime towards this end.

The local-body elections in November had delivered good results, but not as good as the party had expected.
