Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) has set up a solar power plant at its Bhosari office.

Satish Magar, President, MCCIA, said, “This solar plant has been installed as a pilot project to demonstrate the benefits of the solar power for industrial units especially the SMEs. The 4.16 kWp solar power system installed at our Bhosari office is generating 20-22 units of electricity per day.”

Anant Sardeshmukh, Director, MCCIA, added, “Today there is a definite need to look towards renewable energy. Solar power has tremendous potential and it is required to be harnessed effectively. The Government is pushing for it and we have installed this demonstration plant to support this initiative. We are confident that our members would follow us.”

Annually the solar power plant will generate 6,500 units of electricity during daytime. This will help cut around 5 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. The cost of the solar power plant will be paid back in about 4 years and after that MCCIA will use free power (only maintenance cost) for more than 20 years.
