In his maiden visit to Gujarat since assuming office, President Pranab Mukherjee will deliver the address at the 62nd annual convocation of Gujarat Vidyapeeth, an academic institution set up by Mahatma Gandhi in Ahmedabad.

The President will be on a three-day tour to Gujarat starting November 30, when he will unveil the country’s largest cattle feed plant of Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd or Amul Dairy at Kapadvanj in Kaira district. The plant has been set up with an investment of around ₹100-150 crore having a capacity of over 2,000 tonnes per day.

At the 62nd Convocation of Gujarat Vidyapeeth, 24 PhD, 49 M.Phil, 405 Masters, 369 graduate and 59 post-graduate diplomas will be awarded.

“As a tradition of this institution, the visiting chief guest will be gifted Khadi cloth made from the 2000-string yarn spun by the graduating students. This year, we will be glad to gift it toPresident Pranab Mukherjee,” said Anamik Shah, Vice-Chancellor, Gujarat Vidyapeeth.

Sabarmati Ashram The President will also visit Sabarmati Ashram, where he will inaugurate the newly developed Archives and Research Centre at the campus. The research centre has one of the largest collections of Mahatma Gandhi’s original manuscripts and other papers related to his principal associates, official correspondence and personal artefacts.

The new Archive and Research Centre comprises an archival vault, a consultation area and facilities for researchers.

Meeting with IIM-A students

The President is also scheduled to visit the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) campus on Nov 30 to interact with students before leaving for Diu to attend the International Tourist Diu Festival “Feasta-De-Diu”.

In the last leg of his three-day tour to Gujarat, the President will travel to famous Somnath Temple and Dwarka - Lord Krishna temple in Saurashtra before leaving for Delhi in the evening.
