Amusement park operator Wonderla Holidays Ltd is set to commission its Hyderabad amusement park developed near the Hyderabad international airport with an outlay of ₹250 crore.

The company has outlined plans to set up its next park near Chennai, which may entail an outlay of ₹300 crore, while expanding its Bengaluru park with an investment of ₹150 crore and the Kochi park with ₹50 crore.

Opening next month Arun K Chittilappilly, Managing Director of Wonderla Holidays, said: “The amusement park near the airport has been set up on a 50-acre site in a record 18 months’ time and will be formally launched next month. The construction has been completed and we are in the process of securing the requisite permissions which should come in shortly.” Addressing a press conference along with DS Sachdeva, Chief Executive Officer, here today, he said, “This is going to be a big moment for us. Two years back, we went public to raise money to build the park.

“At the time of launch, the park will have the capacity to entertain over 10,000 people daily and will have 43 exciting land- and water-based rides to thrill all age groups. In the next one year, we will add three more new attractions, including India’s first space theme Flying Theater Experience.”

Sachdeva said the company is in the process of upgrading the Bengaluru and Kochi parks and expects to set up the park in Chennai by 2018.

“We are in the process of securing clearances and land for the project,” he said.

The park has developed a rainwater harvesting system and set up a 1 MW solar plant.
