Technical bids by gas-based power plants seeking PSDF (Power System Development Fund) support for using imported natural gas were opened on May 8, paving the way for the financial round of the auction to being from May 11.

A total of 54 gas-based plants are eligible to participate in the technical bid stage which is being held under two categories – 23 that are receiving some domestic gas and 31 that are completely stranded.

The plants belong to companies such as Lanco, GMR, GVK, Reliance Power, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd, Essar Power and others. It is not immediately known whether these companies have submitted technical bids.

After the opening of the bids, the participants will be informed of the delivered price of the imported natural gas. Based on this, they would be able to make a decision of whether to participate in the financial stage or not.
