Never mind the powers that be, Mumbai is the city that consumes the most meat. But it’s also the city, along with Delhi, where salad is a favourite. So says The India Fit Report , a study by GOQii, a virtual fitness coaching platform which also markets the GOQii fitness band. Chennai folks’ first preference is rice-based dishes. Seniors consume the largest quantity of dairy products.
The report is based on 50,000 male and female GOQii users aged 15-65-plus years from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi-Gurugram-NCR, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata, which the survey revealed to be some of the most fitness-conscious cities in India.
The data have been collected over a period of one year to determine the various fitness goals and related concerns such as food, water consumption and stress.
The people surveyed take approximately 6,800 steps per day. GOQii recommends its users to take 10,000 steps every day. Mumbai tops step counts with people taking around 7,033 steps daily followed by Delhi and Bengaluru.
The most active day of the week is Wednesday and the most active month is monsoon month of July. Lest you think the mornings are when people are at their most active, they are not – 4-8 pm is the time for that. The people of Mumbai are the most chatty with their personal trainers or coaches. As for rest, Pune tops the list of cities where people sleep the most, followed by Delhi and Chennai. In Kolkata, people sleep the least.
