Renault took the Indian budget car segment by storm, with the popular Renault Kwid. Since its initial launch, Renault has steadily added fresh variants to the Kwid, introducing a 1.0 litre, more powerful engine and adding an automatic model to the line-up.
The latest addition to the Kwid is the new RXL Smart Control efficiency (SCe) variant to the 1.0 litre model for the manual transmission version and the RXL 1.0 litre AMT variant for the automatic version. Renault said in a press release that the move to introduce the variants was to make the 1.0 litre Kwid more accessible to customers in India
While there is no major overhaul, the two variants get new exterior designer graphics on the doors and two-tone gloss grey ORVMs.
The three-cylinder, 1.0 litre engine churns out 68 PS power at 5,500 rpm and a torque of 91 Nm at 4,250 rpm. The new variants carry forward the Kwid’s other features in the interior too, such as the seven-inch MediaNAV infotainment system, seat belt pretensioners with load limiters, one-touch lane change indicator, and the digital instrument cluster.
The RXL 1.0 SCe will start at a price of ₹3.54 lakh and the RXL 1.0 AMT will begin at ₹3.84 lakh. (Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi.)
