Pharmacy

Total size of retail category: ₹1,05,570 crore

Modern retail: ₹6,179 crore

Share of modern retail: 5.9%

The pharma market is growing at 10-11 per cent and is seen crossing ₹1,41,000 crore by 2017. Modern retail is expected to grow by 24-30 per cent. Retail expanded by 7-17 per cent in terms of number of outlets and space with same store revenue growth being over 22 per cent.

Leisure

Total size of retail category: ₹36,009 crore

Modern retail: ₹7,204 crore

Share of modern retail: 20%

The total leisure retail market is expected to be worth ₹48,301 crore by 2017. Modern retail is likely to grow by 17-18 per cent. Retail outlets and space grew at 10 per cent with same store revenue growth being around 16 per cent.

Beauty and Personal Care

Total size of retail category: ₹68,930 crore

Modern retail: ₹10,745 crore

Share of modern retail: 15.6%

The market is growing at 16-18 per cent and is expected to cross ₹1,07,000 crore by 2017. Modern retail is seen growing at 26 per cent. Retail expansion in beauty services segment grew by 34 per cent and in product retailing it grew by 14-17 per cent. Same outlet growth was in the range of 23-40 per cent depending on the format and target segment.

CDIT

Total size of retail category: ₹1,37,750 crore

Modern retail: ₹31,122 crore

Share of modern retail: 23%

Growing at 19-21 per cent, the market for consumer durables and IT products is expected to cross ₹2,31,696 crore by 2017. Modern retail is expected to grow by 28 per cent. The market is led by retailers with multi-brand offerings.
