Apart from cash awards, it's raining promotions as well for the cricketers.
Air India and ONGC have announced promotions for members of the World Cup winning Indian cricket team working for the companies.
ONGC has announced a Rs 20-lakh reward for their cricketer employees. The beneficiaries of the award are Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Munaf Patel. “The contribution of these three brought the World Cup home after 28 years,” said Mr A.K. Hazarika, Chairman and Managing Director, ONGC.
Air India's list of star employees include the captain, M.S. Dhoni, and the man of the tournament, Yuvraj Singh. Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh have also been promoted.
“I am happy to announce that the four Air Indians will be promoted,” the Air India Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Arvind Jadhav, said.
Dhoni, the Deputy Manager at Ranchi, will be promoted as Manager. Yuvraj, a manager at Air India's Chandigarh office, will become Senior Manager. Harbhajan and Suresh Raina will be made Manager from Deputy Manager at Amritsar and New Delhi offices respectively.
The railways has given the players lifetime complimentary first-AC passes.
