The UK-based BG Group, which is yet to finalise a deal to divest its 65.12% stake in Gujarat Gas Company Ltd (GGCL) on Thursday said it has roped in Mr Shaleen Sharma, Managing Director, GGCL, as the new President and Managing Director, BG India, to manage the India operations of BG Group.
The appointment of Mr Sharma, who joined GGCL in 2000 and became its MD in July 2007, will be effective July 1, 2012, BG India said in a statement here.
Mr Sharma will take over from Mr Walter Simpson who has moved to another role in BG Group as Operations Director, QGC, Australia.
BG Group holds a 65.12% stake in GGCL and also holds a 49.75% stake in Mahanagar Gas Ltd, Mumbai.
BG India Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BG Group, has commenced marketing operations in India to undertake wholesale marketing and distribution of natural gas and RLNG.
