Power back up system makers (inverters), Su-Kam Power Systems Ltd, will foray into the solar inverter business by September 2011. The Gurgaon-headquartered company with a turnover of Rs 700 crore is currently in talks with Japan and US-based companies for entering into a joint venture. “We currently have pilot projects on solar powered LED street lights in Punjab and Haryana and will expand into solar inverters by September,” Mr Kunwer Sachdev, CEO and managing director, Su-Kam, said.
Expansion into the solar inverters is expected to contribute around Rs 250 crore of the company's Rs 1,200-crore revenue in the next fiscal. Su-Kam currently is the market leader in the power back up (inverter) segment with inverter sales alone accounting for 60 per cent of its topline growth. It competes with Luminous and Microtech in the inverter segment.
