Leading private equity investor and retail veteran, Mr Ved Prakash Arya, was killed when a tree came crashing down on him while taking a morning walk, bringing a promising career to a tragic end. The 42-year-old Mr Arya, Managing Director and Chief Executive of the city-based private equity firm, Milestone Capital Advisors, died from severe internal injuries at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in suburban Bandra shortly after admission yesterday morning.
BMC authorities said the tree might have fallen due to high velocity winds and denied any negligence on the part of the civic body as the tree was not identified among the vulnerable ones.
Mr Arya, an IIM-Ahmedabad alumnus, was previously the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Pantaloon Retail.
