The batteries major had in March 2015 commissioned a Four-Wheeler battery plant at the same location. “The plant is now fully functional. The full impact of volumes from this plant would be seen in the current financial year. The plant was formally inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in May 2015,” according to Jaydev Galla, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Amara Raja Batteries Limited.

Addressing the 30th company annual general meeting, he said the four-wheeler automotive battery plant will help in enhancing the company market share and in the flat plate inverter batteries which are seen to be growing in the market place.

Referring to the last AGM speech and efforts for a giant leap, Galla said, “With the volumes kicking in from these new plants, and the continued support and patronage of the customers, we would be leaders very soon.”

He told the shareholders, “Your company continues to enjoy the status of preferred partner with the customers. This has been demonstrated by major customers like Maruti and Indus Towers, to name a few. The company focus on exports continues and going forward would be increasing exports, making it a significant part of the business.”

“In the automotive batteries, the export volumes grew a healthy 37 per cent over previous year. Our focus will continue to be on Indian Ocean Rim countries especially the developing countries in the African continent,” he said.
