Bajaj Auto is targeting a 25 per cent market share in middle segment, by the end of this fiscal. The middle segment comprises of commuter deluxe two wheelers.

Mr S. Sridhar, President, Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto Ltd, who was here on Thursday, said: “We currently have a market share of 22 per cent in the commuter deluxe segment and plan to take this to 25 per cent by the end of this fiscal.”

Mr Sridhar was here to launch the new Discover 125 cc motorcycle — one of the company's middle segment two wheelers.

Bajaj currently has a 50 per cent market share in the top segment that comprise of sports vehicles (sports bikes) and 30 percent market share in entry-level segment.

The company is also planning to re-launch its ‘Boxer' brand of bikes as an entry level vehicle within another six months. The new ‘Boxer' will not be more than 100 cc and will also have “modified feature,” Mr Sridhar said.

“Our bottom segment is likely to grow after we re-introduce ‘Boxer'. The motor cycle will be priced at around Rs 40,000 ,” he added.
