The Corporate Affairs Ministry will soon take steps to double the strength of persons at the NCLT, it's Secretary Injeti Srinivas said on Wednesday. The move to double the strength of the tribunal is aimed at enhancing the capacity of NCLT to handle the surge in cases in recent years, Srinivas said at an event on 'Insolvency Law', organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here.
Asked later if the Government plans to take the ordinance route to implementing any of the recommendations of the Insolvency Law Committee, Srinivas told reporters that a decision on this cannot be taken at the Ministry level, but will have to be taken by the Cabinet. He also declined to comment on individual cases but maintained that the pace of progress of the 'Big12' cases was quite satisfactory.
