Honda Cars India has announced the appointment of Gaku Nakanishi as the new president and chief executive from today.

Nakanishi replaces Yoichiro Ueno who was the president and the chief executive from April 2016, when he was brought in from Honda Malaysia where he was the managing director and chief executive.

The company has also appointed two new directors to spearhead sales and marketing. While Rajesh Goel, has been appointed as senior vice president and director for sales & marketing, Makoto Hyoda has been appointed as director of sales and marketing.

Honda Thailand

Nakanishi comes from Honda Thailand where he was the president and CEO since 2015, and brings in almost three decades of career with Honda. He has also worked in several international markets including North America, Mexico, Japan, Thailand, the CIS, the Middle East and Africa.

Goel is a Honda veteran with an association of over 22 years with Honda India having joined in 1996 at the time of its inception.

Hyoda, who has been in India since April 2017, has been elevated as director of sales & marketing, from the erstwhile position of operating head.

Hyoda has been associated with Honda for the last 22 years and has significant experience in the field of product planning, marketing, sales promotion and customer management.

Premium models

Ueno, whose replacement was announced in February this year, moves to the new business strategy division, business development supervisory unit at the headquarters to spearhead the company’s open innovation in the area of future mobility.

During his tenure, Ueno was instrumental in solidifying Honda’s brand positioning in the country by introducing many premium models, including the BR-V crossover, Accord Hybrid sedan, the new City sedan and the WR-V cross- hatch, apart from the new Amaze compact sedan, new seven- seater CR-V and the Civic sedan.

Honda Cars India, established in December 1995, has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Greater Noida in UP and at Tapukara in Alwar, Rajasthan.

Its product range includes the Brio, Jazz, Amaze, the flagship City, WR-V, BR-V and the CR-V-all manufactured locally. The Accord Hybrid is being sold as a CBU imported from Thailand.
