Bengaluru-headquartered start-up HomeStudio.com received $5 million in seed funding from Bren Corporation.

This (HomeStudio) online branded furniture firm, which commenced operations only in December last, offers home furniture and kitchen category solutions to Indian customers.

“We offer end-to-end home furniture solution – from design to execution to customer service. While customers yearn to own the best imported furniture brands, the price range invariably puts them off. We forayed into this space to help such customers buy branded modular furniture in a variety of styles with a focus on innovation at affordable price points. Besides the solution, we have also come up with after sales service offering,” Alok Duggal, Chief Operating Officer, HomeStudio.com told Business Line.

The firm’s first service centre at Bengaluru is expected to become operational within the next week to a fortnight.

“Most of our product offering come with a five year warranty. We will provide service only for those furnitures that have been bought at HomeStudio.com,” Duggal said.

“Since we offer the complete range of modular furniture, the customer can get in touch with our service centre if they intend to change the design of the furniture. For instance, a shoe rack that was hitherto placed on the floor can be redesigned and fitted on the wall. Innovative changes can be made on an existing product to make it appear more trendy/new,” he added.

Asked how he proposed to use the fund, he said “we will primarily use it to enhance our website on the technology front, improving our warehouse and delivery mechanism and providing an experience zone for customers to feel the product after fitting the same. We offer bedroom and kids room solution, kitchen solution and living area furniture.”

The company has tied up with four German brands that are considered masters in storage solutions.

“There is huge opportunity in this space as an estimated 12 million plus new households are expected to come up in the next 2 -3 years. We are also trying to help the existing households upgrade their kitchen fittings,” he said in reply to a question.

HomeStudio plans to establish its presence across the metros in the initial phase before looking at the next line of cities.
