Led by better footfalls during the festive season, carmakers have seen higher growth in their sales in October with companies such as Hyundai Motor India and home-grown Tata Motors recording highest-ever monthly sales.

“This festive season has brought double delight for Tata Motors. While we have been growing month-on-month, the festive season has further ushered in strong growth impetus for us,” Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors, said.

The company sold 16,311 units of passenger vehicles in October, up 28 per cent as compared with 12,747 units in October last year. Similarly, Hyundai Motor India grew by over six per cent year-on-year to 50,016 units from 47,015 units.

Commenting on the sales, YK Koo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, HMIL, said, “Hyundai achieved the fastest domestic sales of 50,000 units mark within 15 months from the earlier milestone of 40,000 units.”

Maruti Suzuki India reported a two per cent sales increase to 1,23,764 units against 1,21,063 units in October 2015.

Nissan India and Volkswagen India also saw better growth YoY in October. In the two-wheeler sector, Royal Enfield reported over 30 per cent growth.
