The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and Patanjali on Wednesday inked a memorandum of understanding to develop a food park in Telangana. The MoU was signed by Patanjali Managing Director Acharya Balakrishna and TSIIC Managing Director EV Narsimha Reddy.

The Patanjali group had committed to invest over Rs 10,000 crore country-wide at the global food processing fair organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in New Delhi earlier this month.

The proposed food park is likely to host units for processing of edible oil, fruit pulp and spices.

A team of State government officials led by Telangana MP Kavitha Kalvakuntla visited Haridwar for a follow-up meet with Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna. Balakrishna had visited Nizamabad in November last year.

During the meet, Kalvakuntla presented the newly launched food processing policy and various progressive schemes of the state government to the Patanjali management. Thereafter, the team visited the Patanjali campus and the company’s modern research facilities. The Patanjali group also expressed interest in developing indigenous seed varieties and animal feed value chain in Telangana.

Telangana’s food processing policy has garnered a lot of interest from various business groups in the country.
