Qatar Fertiliser Company (Qafco) has signed two separate long-term deals with Indian fertiliser firms Coromandel International and Paradeep Phosphates (PPL) to supply fixed quantities of anhydrous ammonia.
Under the agreements, Qafco will supply 150,000 tonnes and an optional quantity of 50,000 tonnes of anhydrous ammonia to Coromandel International and 100,000 tonnes to PPL annually.
Owned by the Murugappa Group, Coromandel is one of India’s leading manufacturers of phosphatic fertilisers, with plants located at Visakhapatnam and Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh and Ennore and Ranipet in Tamil Nadu, while Paradeep Phosphates is engaged in fertiliser manufacture and marketing of complex phosphatic fertilisers.
The two agreements were signed by Qafco Vice-Chairman and CEO, Mr Khalifa Abdulla Al Sowaidi, with Coromandel International Managing Director, Mr Kapil Mehan, and Paradeep Phosphates Ltd (PPL) Vice-President, Mr Sunil Gupta, respectively, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Qafco-5 plant at Mesaieed Industrial City on Wednesday.
