Luxury car-maker Rolls-Royce is all set to come up with an 'India edition' of its famed cars by the end of 2013.
The rich, the luxury lovers and the aficionados of cars could log in to Rolls-Royce and can look forward to customised versions of the Ghost and Phantom models. About 200 plus cars have been sold in India in the past 10 years, said Paul Harris, Asia Pacific Regional Director.
“We will take inspiration from the >cars , the history of Rolls-Royce in India, the price, the needs and aspirations of Indian customers to design the India edition”, Harris told newspersons at the launch of its third dealership in the country today.
Hyderabad and Rolls-Royce have a special relationship. The former Nizam of Hyderabad, famously named as the all-time richest Indian and one of the wealthiest in the world, owned 50 versions of this super luxury motor cars in the early part of the 20th century.
The car-maker is also looking at expanding its dealer base with one in Chandigarh (2013), Chennai and another in the Western region to follow, he said. The Kun Motoren’s luxury car hub in Hyderabad has 5,400 sq.ft of showroom space.
Rolls-Royce is about to launch its new version on March 5 at the upcoming Geneva motor show. The car will be brought to India by the end of the year. At present the Ghost and Phantom models (which come in six versions) price ranges between Rs 3.2 crore to Rs 4.9 crore for Indian customers.
The car-maker sold around 2500 cars globally in 2012. India has been part of the luxury car maker’s 108 year journey for 105 years, he said
