TVS Motor to set up ₹1,110-cr 2-wheeler plant in Mysuru

Karnataka has received an investment proposal from TVS Motor Company to set up a ₹1,100-crore two-wheeler plant in the State.

“TVS plans to set up its two-wheeler plant at Bytahalli, Kadakola, in Mysuru. The proposal will be cleared shortly by the State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC),” said R V Deshpande, Minister for Large, Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development. When it comes up, the plant will provide create employment for 800 people, he added. In the past three months, Karnataka’s SHLCC has cleared a proposal for Oracle India Pvt Ltd’s IT/ITeS SEZ at Kadubeesnahalli village near Bengaluru. Oracle plans to invest ₹2,438 crore and employ 9,697 people. Another approved proposal, for Wipro Entreprises’ aerospace composite plant at Aerospace SEZ at Devanahalli, at an investment of ₹112 crore, will provide employment for 50.

SHLCC has received 12 proposals, all of which will be cleared in the next two months. They include: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd’s (MRPL) proposal to invest ₹966 crore to produce 2G ethanol from maize cobs and rice straw at Anagwadi Industrial Area Harihara (with potential employment creation for 71 people); and IKEA India’s ₹810-crore proposal to set up a single-brand retail home furnishing store at Nagasandra near Bengaluru (with potential employment creation for 1,050 people).

Also on the list of proposals that the SHLCC is considering are SAP Labs India’s ₹499-crore prposal to set up its software development centre at IT Park, Devanahalli (with potential employment generation for 4,000 people); Acebright India Pharma’s ₹492-crore investment at Harohalli; and Desano Pharmaceuticals’s ₹475-crore investment, also at Harohalli, with potential employment creation for 507 people.

In addition, the SHLCC is considering a proposal from Adani Cementation for a greenfield cement grinding unit at Yellur village in Udupi at an investment ₹410 crore, with a potential to create employment for 65 people; and a proposal from Molex India for electronic hardware-harness cable assemblies at Aerospace park, at an investment ₹340 crore, and with the potential to create employment for 4,161 people.

Further, Aditya Birla Solar is looking to set up 60-MW solar power plants at Kolar, Belgaum and Gadag districts at an investment ₹325 crore.

And HNI Autotech is planning an automobile components plant at Vemgal Industrial Area Kolar, at an investment of ₹242 crore and with the potential to create employment for 275 people. Anutone Acoustics is looking to set up a magnesium oxide board project at Jakkasandra industrial area, with an investment ₹200 crore and the potential to create employment for 180 people.

Further, Prosperity Textile Processors is planning a ₹196.79-crore investment for a project for finishing of cotton and blended cotton textile at Managutti village Hukkeri in Belagavi.

And Ather Energy is planning a ₹47.50-crore investment in an electronic scooters project at Pattandur Agrahara, Whitefield, with the potential to create employment for 387 people.
