Volvo Auto India on Friday launched compact crossover vehicle, V40, priced at Rs 28.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The company has also tied up with Bajaj Allianz to provide vehicle insurance for its customers in India.
Diesel model
Available only in diesel (2 litre, 5 cylinder and 6 speed automatic transmissions), the model is aimed at a young generation of upmarket luxury car buyers in India, said Sudeep Narayan, Marketing Director.
Many features of the vehicle have been specifically tailor-made for Indian conditions, he added.
“Volvo V40 cross country which is a variant of the V40 represents a model which is premium in design, features, technology and safety,” said Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director.
Features
The new V40, which will compete with the likes of BMW X1, has features such as seven air bags (including a knee airbag), rear parking camera and park assist pilot, fixed panoramic glass roof and automatic braking up to 50 km per hour.

He said the company will also have two new launches of sedan S60 and SUV XC60 by October to push sales in India.
“Last year, we sold about 800 units and the target for this year is around 1,100 to 1,200 units,” he said.
