Fortis Healthcare today said it has joined hands with the International Centre for Robotic Surgery (ICRS) that will enable the hospital chain to offer advanced robotic surgery at its facilities.

Under a collaboration, the two parties have agreed to set up ‘Fortis International Centre for Robotic Surgery (Fortis ICRS)’, which will be set up across the Fortis network, Fortis Healthcare said in a statement.

Fortis ICRS centres will offer the full spectrum of robotic heart, lung, urology, gynaecology, general, head and neck surgeries, it said.

Initially, the facility will be available at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in the Capital, followed by Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and tier II cities such as Mohali and Jaipur, it added.

“This centre further elevates the profile of our medical programmes and we are proud to offer these world-class services in India at a fraction of the cost prevalent overseas,” Fortis Healthcare Managing Director, Mr Shivinder M. Singh, said.

These surgeries will be performed by highly experienced robotic surgeons from the US and other countries with their support teams, in conjunction with surgical teams at Fortis hospitals, it added.

“It is integral for us to partner with a healthcare institution that shares our values of maintaining international standards in healthcare delivery. With this alliance, more and more patients in India will benefit from robotic surgery,” ICRS Founding Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Sudhir Srivastava, said.

Shares of Fortis Healthcare were trading today at Rs 154.40 on the Bombay Stock Exchange in the late afternoon trade, down 1.28 per cent from its previous close.
