The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Hubli chapter members, who met on Sunday, are planning to showcase Hubli as an attractive place for entrepreneurs.
According to Mr Mahesh V.K., Program Manager, TiE Hubli Chapter, “Members discussed various strategies for the annual ‘TiECon Hubli 2012' event to be held in January and were of the opinion that Hubli is the place for entrepreneurs and it has potential to grow as a business hub.”
“Members also felt to showcase some of the successful enterprises and entrepreneurs from the region and their contribution toward development,” he added.
Currently, the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad houses companies such as IonIdea Inc, Sankalp Semiconductor, Nabros, Neilsoft, Pro-Solutions, ClickHubli, Web Dreams and Able Design Engineering Services.
Few new companies are being incubated inside the campus of BVB College of Engineering and Technology.
Brand ambassador
At the meeting, members also discussed in length about having a ‘Brand Ambassador' for the city or instituting a post of business mentorships and a separate cell to attract investments to the region. The Karnataka Government departments except Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (Keonics) have not made any efforts to push north Karnataka or Hubli as the next IT hub.
Keonics few months ago had come out with a special package to encourage IT industries to set up base in Hubli. To attract companies, it had lowered rentals at its premier ‘Hubli-IT park' at Rs 5 a square feet a month.
Keeping all this in mind, TiE Hubli Chapter has set out to focus or position the city as an ideal Tier II to invest and to develop enterprises and working for success of it.
At the meeting, members discussed about theme for the event and shared some of the topics.
Suggested themes for the TiECon Hubli 2012 were ‘Enabling Hubli', ‘Showcasing Hubli', ‘Destination Hubli', ‘T2 (Tire II City) Goldmine', ‘Raising Hubli', ‘Unbound India', Strengths of tier two cities and ‘Business Eco-system'.
The following members were present at the meeting: Mr Naveen Jha, Mr Vivek Pawar, Prof P.B. Roodagi, Mr Sheshgiri Kulkarni, Mr Mallikarjun Huralikoppi, Mr Mangesh Shenai, Mr Prasanna Kulkarni, Mr Shaswat Pujar, Mr Amar Momaya and Mr Mahesh V.K.
