A volume of 11.03 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 17 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

This is about 93,000 kg less than last week’s offer and is among the lowest volumes of the past many months.

Of the 11.03 lakh kg offered, as much as 9.77 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.26 lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 75,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 6.45 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 51,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 3.32 lakh kg, CTC. In all, 7.20 lakh kg belongs to Leaf grades and 3.83 lakh kg, Dust grades.

Homedale Estate Broken Orange Pekoe grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC market last week when Belmount Tea and Produce Co bought it for ₹231 a kg. Homedale Broke Pekoe grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed it at the Leaf tea auctions fetching ₹222. In the CTC Dust tea auctions, Homedale Red Dust grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹230. No other CTC grade entered the high-price bracket of ₹200 a kg.

Quotations with the brokers indicated ₹86-92 a kg for plain Leaf grades and ₹112-120 for the best grades. For plain Dust grades, they ranged ₹87-94 and for the best grades, ₹112-120.
