Allied ICD Services Ltd, an Inland Container Depot based in Durgapur, West Bengal, was certified as an ‘Authorised Economic Operator’ (AEO) on October 22 by the Indian Customs.
An Authorised Economic Operator or AEO is involved in the international movement of goods approved by a national Customs administration and which complies with the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards or equivalent supply chain security standards.
According to Pramod Kumar Srivastava, Director and CEO of Allied ICD, this is an achievement for the company.
“The inland port is equipped with modern infrastructure and we strive to achieve the highest standards of security to meet customer expectations,” he was quoted as per a release issued by the company.
Authorised Economic Operators have a special status as they enjoy various benefits in Customs processes, import, export and physical surveillance.
ICD Durgapur was inaugurated in 2006 with the idea of decongesting ports in West Bengal. It has a capacity of carrying 5,000 containers per month.
Allied ICD Services Ltd is a part of ‘The PDP Group’ which provides door-to-door logistics service.
