The citizens of Dharwad have asked the South Western Railway (SWR) to change the departure timing of Inter City Express (linking Dharwad to Bangalore) at Dharwad from 5-20 a.m. to 5-45 a.m.
The citizens have also asked the Railways for extension of Janshatabdi Express to Dharwad as was done for the Inter City Express few years ago, introduction of new trains between Dharwad and Tirupati and also for a new train between Hubli-Mumbai.
The citizens submitted a memorandum to this effect to Mr Kuldeep Chaturvedi, General Manager, South Western Railway, and Mr Praveen Kumar Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubli Division who were inspecting the Hubli-Vasco-da-gama section of Hubli Division.
The citizens also urged the General Manager to develop Dharwad station on par with Yesvantpur Station, and construction of a ramp at the station, an over-bridge at Kalaynagar, Hubli.
Mr Chaturvediassured that he would take up the issues with the Railway Board.
Inspection
The inspection on Hubli-Vasco-da-gama section of Hubli Division began with Dharwad Station inspection at 8-40 on February 4.
The General Manager inaugurated the touch screen facility for the convenience of passengers in the presence of the senior Railway Officials of SWR.
