Hubli railway division clocks Rs 190.10 cr revenues

Shift stoppage of train No 6590 Rani Chennamma Express at platform No.1 at Hubli instead of platform 2 for passengers convenience. This was told to the South Western Railway's Hubli division at the 18th Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee (DRUCC) Meet organised by Hubli Division.

Ms Praveen Kamalani, a DRUCC member from Dharwad, suggested this measure as the current stopping of Rani Chennamma Express at platform No.2 is causing lot of difficulty as passengers had to go by foot over bridge with luggage. Railways should also provide separate counter for enquiry as well at both Hubli and Dharwad station.

Mr Praveen Kumar Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubli Division, speaking at the DRUCC meet said, Hubli Division's total earnings up to April 2011 in the financial year (20011-12) is Rs 190.10 crore. The number of passengers carried by is 34.23 lakh, an increase of 5.62 per cent over the corresponding period of last year.

Talking about new trains, Mr Mishra said the Railways has introduced a new train from Kolhapur-Hyderabad-Kolhapur. This train covers around 600 km of Karnataka area. Few more trains introduced were Solapur-Hubli-Solapur and Vasco-da-gama-Nagapattinam-Vasco-da-Gama.

At the meet 12 members representing various organisations participated in the meeting and they are Mr S. Brahmaiah, Bellary, Mr Ashok Jere, Hospet, Mr D.S. Guddodagi, Bijapur, Ms Praveen Kamalani, Dharwad, Mr Rajendrakumar Harkuni, Belgaum, Mr Devanand S.N. Bhandari, Sanvordem Curchorem, Goa, Mr Kantilal Bohra, Hubli, Mr V.B. Desai, Khanapur, Mr M.M. Dhond, Madagon, Goa, Mr Shabhu Bahu Bandekar, Vasco, Goa, Mr Bhavarlal D. Jain, Koppal and Mr K.L. Thakkar, Belgaum.

Bellary Chamber

Mr S. Brahmaiah, Bellary Chamber of Commerce and Industry, suggested for diverting Chennai-Hubli and Chennai-Vasco trains via Guntakal, Bellary, Gadag. He also requested the Railways to introduce one train from Hubli to New Delhi via Bellary, and trains to run daily to Howrah and Vijayawada.

He suggested for giving connection of Chikjajur-Guntakal Passenger to Tirupati-Secunderabad Passenger at Guntakal Station and Hospet-Bangalore Passenger to be given connection to Train Nos.17302/17301 Mysore-Dharwad Express.

Mr Ashok Jere from Hospet, requested for providing Platform shelter at Hospet station as there is a gap in between two platform shelters. He also suggested to introduce a new trains from Hubli-Guntakal, Chennai-Mumbai and Chennai-Vasco via Bellary, Hospet.

Mr S.B. Bandekar from Vasco, suggested that Vasco-Chennai Express to run twice a week and restoration of Vasco-Miraj Express. He further requested for providing train services from Vasco-Mumbai via Londa, Pune and Vasco-Shiridi.

Frequency of Yesvantpur-Vasco Express

Mr Devanand S.N. Bhandari, Member from Sanvordem, Goa, requested railways for providing amenities at Sanvordem station which includes electronic display boards for arrival/departure of trains, refreshment room, sufficient lighting on platform, pay and use toilet, reservation counter and repairs to Foot Over Bridge.

He also suggested to increase the frequency of Yesvantpur-Vasco Express to daily and Vasco-Chennai Express to run bi-weekly. He further requested to extend Vijayawada-Hubli Amaravathi Express to Vasco and Vasco-Howrah Amaravathi Express to be converted as daily instead of four days a week.

Mr V.B. Desai of Khanapur, suggested for stopping of Haripriya Express and Chalukya Express at Khanapur station and extension of Belgaum-Miraj Passenger up to Londa. Mr D.S. Guddodagi of Bijapur suggested Hampi Express to run via Bijapur, Gadag, Sampark Kranti Express to be diverted to run via Gadag, Bijapur, Solapur and provide stoppage to Express Trains at indi Road and Ibrahimpur station.

Mr Rajendrakumar Harkuni of Belgaum, requested for change in the timings of Rani Chennamma Express as it is not convenient for the people of Belgaum. He suggested for introducing one new train from Hubli to Mumbai and Pune-Ernakulam to be made as daily.

Mr K.L. Thakkar of Belgaum suggested for introducing a train between Hubli and Mumbai and Pune to Hubli and a train between Hubli-Rajkot or Porbundar to be introduced.
