A press release by Mr S. Gopalakrishna, Traffic Manager of NMPT, said here on Saturday that the LPG handled at New Mangalore Port caters the needs of Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The release also said that m.t. Maharshi Bharadwaj, a very large gas carrier (VLGC) with a capacity of carrying 44,000 tonnes of LPG, called at the port on March 25. The vessel berthed at berth no.12 for evacuation of LPG meant for distribution in Karnataka. This is the maximum size of LPG vessel ever handled at the port, it said.
