Coal loading in railway rakes, after having remained suspended for about a week, has resumed at Talcher mines. “It will be another day or two before we can start normal loading of 28 rakes a day”, according to a spokesman for East Coast Railway. However, nearly a week-long suspension of loading will prevent ECoR from reaching the targeted throughput of 5.5 million tonnes of coal in the current month. “At best, we can hope to achieve five mt as against 4.88 mt in the same month of last year”, he observed. The loading of total traffic in the current month too, it was estimated, would fall short of the targeted 9.7 mt . In February last year, ECoR handled 8.6 mt. Between April and January, ECoR's coal loading was 50.6 mt as against 47.88 mt in the corresponding period of the previous year and the total loading was 89.93 mt (85.5 mt), the sources added.
