Low-fare carrier SpiceJet has fired another salvo at its rivals, launching a new fare war called the ‘early bird sale’ in which fares start as low as Rs 499 per ticket for flights on its domestic network.

Booking for the tickets is open till 11.59 pm on September 3 for travel between January 16 and October 24, 2015, the airline has said.

In the announcement posted on its Web site, SpiceJet said the ‘early bird’ fares would begin at Rs 499 and these were one-way fares inclusive of fuel surcharge. All statutory taxes and fees would have to be paid by the passengers as applicable on the date of travel. The fare would vary from sector to sector based on travel and the inventory available was limited and would be given on a first-come-first-served basis.

Bookings for infants and groups were excluded from the scheme. The scheme would be available only for bookings made on its Web site www.spicejet.com, online travel portals and through travel agents only. While bookings made for direct, via and onward flights on its domestic network were covered under the scheme, the fare paid was non-refundable.

SpiceJet had earlier launched schemes with a base fare of Re 1.
