Movement of aircraft at the Chennai airport was affected for 27 minutes this morning following a British Airways cargo aircraft getting stuck on the main runway.
At 7.48 a.m., the aircraft from London blocked the runway and was later towed away to the designated bay. The runway was declared ready to resume flight operations by 8.18 a.m.
Due to this incident, the Jet Airways flight 836 from Kochi was diverted to Bangalore. There was no other flight diversion. Two departure movements were delayed, says a press release issued by Chennai airport.
The Airports Authority of India is investigating the matter, the release said.
