Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has bagged the World 1 airport Award trophy of the Airports Council International (ACI) in the 5-15 million passengers per annum category.

The Airport run by the GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), received the trophy from Angela Gittens, Director General of the ACI and Bongani Maseko, CEO, Airports Company South Africa during the 27th ACI Africa World Annual General Assembly, Conference & Exhibition in Port Louis, Mauritius on Tuesday.

Furthermore, this year’s ACI ASQ Award marks the 8th consecutive year of Global Top 3 ranking by RGIA in its size category, The ASQ survey statistics shows that Hyderabad Airport has steadily improved its score from 4.4 in 2009 to 4.9 in 2016 (measured on a scale of 1 to 5).

SGK Kishore, CEO of GHIAL who received the award said the recognition boosts brand Hyderabad. The Airport is gearing up to offer a set of whole new experiences for passengers with the airport expansion on the anvil. A host of new technology-enabled passenger processing solutions are also being prepared for roll out, which will further cement Hyderabad Airport's position as a leader in leveraging technology for delivering enhanced passenger experience, a press release said.
