Mr N. Venugopal, chairman of Greater Cochin Development Authority, has said that the toll collection at the BOT Bridge at Thoppumpady would end by August 15 this year.

A joint meeting with all constituents including the builder of the bridge Gammon India would be convened shortly to discuss and resolve this issue, he said.

He was speaking at the reception meeting organised under the aegis of the Mattancherry based Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He also said that a detailed plan for the inclusive development of the city is on the anvil, which will include all the areas including the erstwhile city centre of Mattancherry-Fortkochi. He assured that 18 acres of land at Mundanveli would be developed with projects beneficial to the public.

Mr Dominic Presentation MLA unveiled the new logo of the Chamber at the function. Also, the renovated Customs Help Centre office functioning at the Chamber premises was declared open by Mr Navas, Deputy Commissioner of Customs.

He said that an official from Customs would be deputed at the Customs Help Desk once a week to resolve any issues faced by the trading community as well as the general public, connected with Customs.
