The VOC Port here has selected Chennai-based L&T Infotech for implementation of Rs 19.75 crore web-enabled integrated electronic port information system.
The work agreement for ‘e-sail’ (electronic systems and information logistics) was signed here today by VOC Port Chairman Mr A Subbiah and L&T Infotech President, Mr R A Swamy.
L&T Infotech was selected through a competitive bidding in which other major IT players such as Wipro, Mahindra Satyam and TCS participated, a port release said.
Mr Subbiah said the project was scheduled to be completed within 12 months. In 2014, the port would handle 50 million tonnes of cargo and 100 million in 2021. The port users, the port management and the stakeholders would be benefited by this project.
