Taking another step towards beating competition brought in by Reliance Jio’s economic offers, Bharti Airtel (Airtel), on Wednesday came up with what is called an affordable data plan, for all customers purchasing a new 4G mobile handset.

The company said it is offering 10 GB 4G/3G data on a recharge of ₹259 along with any new 4G handset. It will credit 1GB data instantly to the customer’s account and the additional 9GB data can be claimed by the customer through MyAirtel App.

The data will be valid for 28 days and users can avail a maximum of three recharges within 90 days, on the offer, it said.

The offer will be valid for both new Airtel customers who have 4G handset as well as existing customers who purchase a new 4G smartphone.

“This invitational offer has been designed for our data savvy customers who can now experience high speed broadband on Airtel’s 4G network with their new devices,” Ajai Puri, Director – Market Operations, Airtel, said.

The special offer, which was introduced in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh last week, has now been extended across India and is available across all brands of 4G handsets, the company said. Airtel 4G is currently available in 18 circles across India. In non 4G circles, 3G data will be available to customers with their 4G devices, it said.

Price variation However, pack prices may vary from circle to circle, Airtel said adding that offer on 4G handsets only and can be availed within 30 days of purchase of the handset.

Airtel has been launching new offers almost every week to fight with RJio’s plans. The company had last week (October 12) launched revamped version of MyAirtel App that offers curated set of apps for all their mobile application needs. This was made similar to similar to the ‘MyJio’ app of Reliance Jio, which has various apps under one umbrella — for music, cinema, calls etc.
