The phone runs on Android Lollipop 5.0 and nubia 2.8 user interface out of the box. It is a dual-sim phone with a 16 mega pixel camera and an 8 mega pixel front camera. The device has a number of patents for its imaging and camera system.

“Now is the perfect time for a brand like nubia to be launched in India. There are a lot of discerning photographers and this brand will widen our customer segment,” said Yuan Kang, Chief Executive Officer – Terminal Sales, South Asia, ZTE. Kang added that the Z9 mini is the start of nubia’s products in India but by the end of the year, there will be a next generation product. However, he said that there are no clear plans yet of manufacturing in India. The nubia phone will be covered by Amazon’s warranty plans as well as ZTE service centre network of 250 outlets.
