WhatsApp is working on a search by date feature: Report
WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to search for messages by date according to reports.
The Facebook-owned messaging platform is working on the Search by date feature which is currently under development and is not available yet, WABetaInfo reported.
The platform is testing this feature which will let users pick a particular date to search for messages sent and received on that specific date. WhatsApp already supports an in-chat search feature. However, currently, a user can only search for messages based on particular keywords and not for messages sent/received on a specific day.
As part of the new feature, WhatsApp will add a Calendar icon to the in-chat search mode with a date picker. Users can pick a particular date, and the search results will then display messages from that specific day, as per the report.
The feature is currently under development for WhatsApp for iPhone. According to the platform, the messaging app is likely to begin developing the feature for the Android version of its app as well.
According to a previous report by WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is also working on another feature to help curb misinformation. As part of this feature, users will be able to search a particular message on the web to verify this authenticity.
